Community
YouTubePlays grew out of a community, not the other way around — a chat-controlled interactive stream that only worked because people showed up, typed commands, and kept coming back. This page covers how that community works today.
Where the community lives
Most day-to-day activity happens on Discord — that's where interactive streams are announced, where moderation decisions get discussed, and where suggestions for new content (including for this site) actually reach us. Live chat during streams happens on whichever platform we're broadcasting to at the time.
Community guidelines
The rules are short on purpose:
- No harassment, hate speech, or targeted negativity toward other members, moderators, or the streamer.
- No spam or command flooding during interactive streams — rate limits exist to keep things playable, and working around them isn't clever, it's just annoying for everyone else.
- Keep NSFW and off-topic content out of the main channels — there's room for off-topic chat, just not everywhere.
- Mod decisions are final in the moment; if you disagree, raise it afterward rather than arguing live.
Moderation
Moderators are community members who've been around, understand how the chat-command systems work technically, and can make fast calls during live interactive sessions. We're not listing individual names here since the mod team changes over time — active mods are always identified in Discord itself.
Want to get involved?
Join the Discord and say hello. If you're interested in helping moderate, that usually starts with being an active, trusted presence in the community first — reach out once you've been around a while, or contact us directly.
